Running Ronin

Austin Vibrancy

Hi and thanks for visiting my gallery page! These photos are from my travels (I travel a lot for work) - if you want to learn more about how I take these shots and who I learn from, visit http://www.runningronin.com.

Austin is a city of tech, music and arts - cool arts. Loved the colors on this musical monument, especially how it was named "Vibrancy." Made me think of some of my photos, how I try to make them ultra-real through increased colored vibrancy...

Some people dont like the excess colors, the high dynamic range of lighting and the details. Its is true, there can be too much of a good thing (except for those beef sliders at Rush Street), but if done right, I think HDR images come closer to what you see with your eyes when observing the world.

The Photo was:

  • Shot with my Nikon D90
  • HDRed with Photomatix Pro from a set of 3 photos
  • Layered in Photoshop CS4 to remove ghosting
  • Cropped
  • Detail Enhanced in Topaz Detail
  • Denoised in Topaz Denoise
  • Finally I used a new program to straighten the photo - ShiftN (thanks Stiga!).

Nice Pic, mate. It's time to move to a more serious camera!

Would love the step up in camera - think I want to train a bit more on the D90 though... I effective;y think I use only 20% of its potential (while Hokuto no Ken would use the whole 100%) and the camera upgrade is also quite expensive :)
