If you go to Harajuku in Tokyo, you should be prepared to be overwhelmed by Japanese younglings, dressed in ways that are definitely bizarro, who push their ways (in a polite manner) through extremely crowded streets.

If you are in for some serious shopping, you can however hit Laforet, a pricey and extremely cool department store. Frommers says its caters mainly to 16-20 years old and that its the biggest store in Harajuku. Sounds about right, but I think women all ages would find the place interesting, especially due to some eclectic Japanese fashion designers who have their shops there.
